Windward Women

HSAWW - encouraging women to participate more actively in sailing

HSA Windward Women is a friendly and welcoming place for women to sail and make new friends. We offer chances for all skill levels—from beginners to experienced sailors—to get out on the water, learn more, and enjoy time together. Whether you want to gain more confidence sailing or just hang out with others who share your interests, our group is here for you. We focus on having fun while building a strong and supportive community of women sailors. Come join us for sailing adventures and social events that are all about friendship and fun.

Windward Women Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, our Windward Women group comes together for a mix of sailing and learning. When the weather is good, we head out on the water to sail, practice our skills, and enjoy the breeze. If conditions aren’t right for sailing, we stay on shore for hands-on lessons, discussions, and activities to help us grow as sailors. Whether we’re out sailing or learning on land, these sessions are all about supporting each other and building confidence in a fun and friendly environment.

Pink Ribbon Regatta

The Winward Women host an annual small boat regatta to raise funds for local breast cancer non-profit service providers to promote sailing, competitive sailing and breast cancer awareness. Proceeds will benefit Halifax Health Foundation's Charles L. and Miki N. Grant Cancer Center for Hope for the patient assistance program as well as Heart Strings Boutique's program for professional undergarment fittings and supplies for uninsured and underinsured breast cancer survivors.

Florida Women's Sailing Association

Windward Women support and attend FWSA events to extend our network of women sailors and increase skills and confidence on the water by participating in conferences, talks and clinics hosted by FWSA. FWSA consists of nine member clubs along the west and east coasts of Florida.

Environmental Stewardship

HSA, through the work of Windard Women, is proud to be recognized with a Bronze Level Certification in the Clean Regattas program by Sailors for the Sea. This certification acknowledges our dedication to sustainable practices and protecting our waters while hosting eco-friendly sailing events. Through initiatives like waste reduction, responsible water usage, and community education, we’re committed to making a positive environmental impact in every event we host.
