Halifax Sailing Association

Your Community Sailing Center, Daytona Beach, FL

Hello everyone,

Here is your weekly update:

1) The Halifax Women's Sailing group is hosting this Saturday's Gary Gorden regatta (6/18/22). We need help please!!!! We will need help with registrations, as well as helping Lisa with the running of the race - i.e., she needs people to help with the flag sequence for the start, to help take times for the start and the individual finishes, to help place and move marks, to be with her on the water.  Please contact Lisa ASAP if you can help (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; (386) 679-6315).
In addition, Kim S., our new Events VC, will be handling the food re: the dogs and burgers that HSA will have on hand, plus we would like people to bring a dish to share when they come to either watch or participate in the race. Please help by providing additional food to support what HSA provides. If you can help, contact Kim S. ASAP to let her know 1) if you can assist her onshore and 2) what food you'll bring to share. Running a regatta takes a lot of helping hands! The more that can help, the easier everything will be for all of us! I look forward to seeing you at HSA for this regatta!!
If you're interested in sailing, the race is open to all types of boats - sunfish, capris, keelboats, catamarans. If you'd like to sail, you are more than welcome to!! Here is the link to register for the event:   Info/Registration
If you'd like to sail on one of the bigger boats, come on down with your life jacket and close-toed shoes and we'll get you on a big boat as a crew member.
2) We successfully completed the June sunfish class. The students took to the boat and were sailing well by the last day. We'll have a little break from classes for a bit. Our next classes will be a Capri class in July (already full) and a sunfish class in August (2 spots left). Check out our website to register for classes.
3) Our youth affiliate - Halifax Youth Sailing (HYS) - is offering 4 weeks of sailing camps in July. The first week is full to the max. The 2nd week is almost full. There are still spots available in the 3rd and 4th weeks. Please continue to talk up these wonderful programs. Here's the link to register:  http://halifaxyouthsailing.org/
Otherwise all is good at HSA these days. I look forward to seeing you at the regatta on Saturday, 6/18!
